Deadpool ratings RANT

RANT -
Deadpool does not need to be R-rated. The people making it saying it is making it truer to the comics are wrong. Because no MARVEL and DC comics are rated R. Deadpool does not profusely graphically swear, he cracks joke and eats taco's. And there is also no nudity in the. Don't feel the need to add all this stuff to be edgy. The comic is more mature, but not ridiculous. Also - please give him some depth. He's not just jokes. Read the Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
- RANT OVER.

Gods and Monsters Chronicles - Big

Wonder Woman, Bekka of the new gods, has to rescue her friend Steve Trevor from the terrorist group Kobra.

The Good

This episode is un-like the others that came before it, in a good-way. I light-hearted and dear I say it – fun. The previous two animations very good, but very – very dark, which is fine. But this episode is just a funny action packed story. It may not have as much substance as the other ones but it’s a nice break from the others.

Wonder Woman’s powers and abilities are really cool, actually most of the action in this is really well done. The way they blend her new god powers into the classic fighting she is doing is really cool.

The character dynamic between Steve and Bekka, was my only unsure point but I ultimately put it up here because it did make me smile a few times though sometimes it came off as dry.

The Bad

Wonder Woman’s costume was too revealing, just like the Harley Quinn’s costume in the Batman episode.

(Also – Kobra really?)

The Ugly (The Verdict)

Like I have said, this was fun, fun episode. The character was funny and her dialogue with Steve did make me laugh as well as the action be very well done. But honestly it was just this and lacked substance. I know it’s a short but in the Superman short it gave us a great look at the world showing us all the other characters as well as the conclusion showing us a very different take on the man of steel. This like the Batman episode was good but lacking the depth to make it great.

Razor - Update 3? 23? I have no idea.

Razor

Issue One

3rd Version – hopefully the last.

Going to try a different style to my writing. MARVEL-STYLE. Kinda.

Gods and Monster Chronicles – Bomb

When Brainiac gets loose on Metropolis, it’s up to Superman, the son of Zod to stop him.

The Good

The characters, designs and all were really good in this short. I was cool to see Amanda Waller and Dr. Sivana in it, and nicer to see Amanda back to her original design. The changes were interesting; making Amanda Waller president was a cool twist though I’m not sure how Dr. Sivana fits into it. Hopefully that will be explained further in the movie. The Brainiac twist was great and very sad at the same time.

Onto Superman – this version is interesting and his different moral code makes him more unexpected also his entrance was very cool. Though he is willing to do what’s necessary he’s by no means a monster and that makes his reaction to the ending more fascinating.

The background and city designs were very beautiful and the tone fit the story very well.

The Bad

(This does not impact the score) But this short was just dark and depressing.

The Ugly (The Verdict)

The second short of the first season was better than the last. It had much more character and heart to it than the Batman one and also gave us much better feel and view of this different world. The character twists were interesting and the ultimate conclusion that came out of them was very good, even if a bit dark. The darkness was there but handled in such a way that it was intriguing and not dissuading. A very good short and maybe the highlight of the season, though it remains to be seen.

Gods and Monsters Chronicles - Twisted

In a dark alternate world, Harley Quinn faces off against the Batman – but he’s not what she is expecting.

The Good

The animation for Batman, and the environment is very nice and gives off creepy feel that does fit the different universe it is set in. It’s a nice blend of the Timm-verse animation with the current DC-animated movie style. The fighting in Harley Quinn’s room was pretty cool and the dialogue she had was quite funny, though Batman’s final line was by far the best in the short.

This short leaves a lot of questions unanswered question and honestly I’m not sure if it’s a good or a bad thing. I’m putting it in this place because it does have a lot of potential to become something either in the spin-off comics, season 2 of the show and, of course – the movie.

The Bad

The episode had a bit of a slow start and the music felt a bit off in the beginning, it got better as the episode but still a rough start.

The Harley Quinn design is the worst costume she’s had in a while in my opinion. It does make her much more creepy which does fit the tone but honestly it’s a bit too revealing.

Side note – (This doesn’t affect the score) The gore was bit over the top over for me.

The Ugly (The Verdict)

A cool, interesting short that defiantly got me into the Gods and Monsters universe and made me want more. Though nothing breathtakingly amazing, the short was nicely voiced, well directed and good-looking. This is a great set up for what’s to come and all around nice one off episode.

Razor Script Update #2

OK, been a while but know I've got more details. I've finished issues 1 and 2 of Razor and have made a large amount to headway on issue 3. That's really all I can say,  but the project is really beginning to come together.

Gotham – Going Rouge

Gotham – Going Rouge

Gotham is back to form!

This episode starts off in Arkham Aslyum, introducing us to Leslie Thompkins and showing how bad Jim’s life has become. We are shown Catwoman and Ivy and Penguin and pretty much every supporting character apart from Bruce and Alfred, which to be honest actually disappointed me. They are my favourite supporting character in the show. Hopefully they have a bigger role in the next episode. Leslie Thompsons is a very cool character in this show and will probably serve as a call for action, to save his sprit in the later episodes. Harvey Bullock is lovable as ever and the actor has really gotten into the character, him and Gordon’s chemistry is amazing. The humour in the scene when they get reunited is great and even though they’ve been separated because of the evil mayor, they work so well together.

Most of the acting in this episode was top notch and Selina Kyle seemed to be at the top of her game. The only character that I have some real problems with is Barbra, I don’t know what it is a out her but at the beginning of the show she didn’t really have any character now she’s pulling a Laurel Lance on us (from Arrow) and she has become unbearable. I can under stand what is it with these characters, I lie Laurel now and I’m pretty excited to see her as Black Canary with Wildcat but for some reason seeing them so weak and useless is enraging for me. It makes me feel like there is so much unused potential in this character and they’re wasting it. At least with Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad it was in his character to do be a drug addict. With Barbra and Laurel have never had this problem in their history as a character in the comics but because the writers have no idea what to with the character, though they have fixed up Laurel now, so they add in this as a conflict for them that makes no sense.

The villain is very interesting and a very the plot twist is great. You start off by think how boring and predictable it is before it turns around and smacks you in your ugly face.  No offence. And it’s not forced down you throat like “ah-ha a twist! You didn’t see that coming did you? DID YOU?!” it legitimacy shocking and even makes you double take, oh no it’s actually --and then hits you with it. The sub plots with Penguin, Butch and Catwoman/Poison Ivy are very interesting. First you get the spectacular Robin Lord Taylor as playing the Penguin, in a small role compared to what he has had before but surprisingly gives us more insight into who he will become, his psychopath/sociopathic personality really shines and we also see him overstep his boundary’s which uts him in a interesting situation. Selina Kyle and Ivy felt slightly forced in to progress this story but the acted very well and Ivy achieved the goal of being creepy very well…. Brrr.

THE VERDICT –

This episode brought the show back in style. It took us into the wonderful world of Arkham and introduced us to a new villain as well bringing in Leslie Thompkins from the comics. It brought us up to date with all our supporting characters, apart from Bruce and Alfred, which somewhat disappointed me. The story was interesting and opened up a new world of story which we can explore in later seasons. A good jumping on point for new viewers.
